I've been asked 'what do you do with the ewes that are too old to breed from?' here's the answer, I deliver them to their 'retirement home'! My friend Sandra has been taking all my non-breeding ladies since 2014. The fact that Sene (pic on right) is now seventeen years old is a credit to Sandra, I think she loves them more than I do! There's a practical reason why she likes to have a few sheep. They manure the ground which in turn improves the protein content of the hay. I feel very blessed to have found such a lovely place to end their days. So it's definitely a win-win! Pic on left is Silvia being re-introduced to her twin sister Argentea, who were born in February 2011 and my other old Fencote ladies.
Meet Ruby & Pearl. These wonderful 'proper' micro piglet girls are new to the Fencote smallholding. Hoping to breed from them in two years time.
